Ashland's HOODSTACK® apparatus was designed to quantitatively capture the emissions released by products or manufacturing processes under a variety of conditions. It provides the ability to identify the emitted compounds and to determine the actual amount of each released to the atmosphere. The procedure for capturing emissions from the HOODSTACK® apparatus, and analyzing the samples constitutes Ashland's complete HOODSTACK® Analytical Services.

Initially employed to monitor the emissions from foundry binder thermal decomposition, HOODSTACK® Analytical Services have also been used to determine the "unit" emissions from a variety of processes and products. Data obtained through HOODSTACK® Analytical Services have been applied to develop emission factors and to show compliance with emission limits.

Compared to field sampling and analysis, cost savings as high as 50% have been realized by our clients using HOODSTACK® Analytical Services, since all of the work is conducted at Ashland's Technical Center, and expensive field teams and mobile testing equipment are not needed.
